The traditional performance review process is becoming a thing of the past. Increasingly organizations are redesigning their appraisal and evaluation programs to focus on coaching, development, continuous goal alignment, and recognition. A reliance on “ranking” employees is disappearing in today’s talent-constrained workplace, and being replaced by a focus on engaging people and helping them perform at extraordinary levels. What does this mean for HR and Business Leaders? How can we adopt this approach to achieve outstanding results? Where should we start? Mark will share his knowledge, thoughts and perspective on shifting the talent development process from a traditional cumbersome and complex approach to an employee focused approach that enhances relationship building in a practical and meaningful way. Following a brief overview, Mark will facilitate a full room round table where the best practices currently being utilized by our membership will be showcased. Following a robust discussion amongst those in the room, facilitated by Mark, he has committed to taking the feedback and preparing a summary paper capturing the essence of what was deliberated. This paper will be available to all who attend. This session will provide thought provoking ideas to stimulate rich discussions with your colleagues and leaders regarding your performance management process.

This half-day workshop is designed to provide participants with the competencies required to both engage and facilitate a collaborative discussion. Participants will be introduced to the causes of conflict and the physiological underpinnings that need to be navigated to turn conflict into a positive and informative experience. With the help of a single collaborative communication model, participants will be walked through a four-step process which will help align behaviours with the core values of Appreciated, Inclusion and Respect through communication.

Join us as Sally Wells moderates this diverse panel of executive women leaders representing a variety of sectors. Our panelists will discuss their leadership successes as well as some of the challenges women face along their career path to leadership positions today. This session provides an excellent opportunity for participants to connect with other women leaders, to discuss common issues and identify solutions to challenges that face them along their career paths.

This notice is to inform the members of HRANB that the Annual General Meeting of HRANB Fredericton Chapter is scheduled for November 24th 2016 at the Delta Fredericton. The meeting will take place at 10:15am immediately following our monthly professional development session featuring Executive Performance Coach, Crane Stookey. Various reports will be given, including Financial, PD Events, Mentorship program, Students, CHRP and Marketing updates. A call for nominations will be made for various Executive roles. Your presence is requested for voting.

As those responsible for supporting and growing our organizations’ human assets, we often think in terms of salaries, benefits, flex-time or Ping-Pong tables to help people thrive. But whether we’re senior leaders, managers or entry-level, we can think bigger than that. In this workshop we will cover practical techniques of generous leadership and team development you can use every day, in three specific areas: Generous team leadership: How to apply the Three Simple Rules for leadership and team development in complex situations. Techniques for building capacity rather than dependence, and avoiding leadership fatigue. Generous one-on-one leadership: How to use the Curiosity Technique to handle difficult conversations with problem individuals. A “conversation roadmap” of what to say and not say, to get below the surface of problems and find lasting solutions. Generous self-leadership: How to use Fresh-Start Practice to escape the “mental claustrophobia” of a hectic day. Simple “personal mental performance” techniques you can use at your desk, in a meeting, anywhere, to reconnect, even under pressure, with the more expansive, unencumbered state of mind that is the source of your own personal best.
