Yves Boudreau is a notable figure in the world of human resources technology and recruitment. He is the CEO of CareerBeacon, a prominent online recruitment and talent acquisition site headquartered in Atlantic Canada. His journey in the HR tech industry has been significant, spanning nearly a decade.

Yves and his co-founder Benoit Bourque, launched Alongside in 2014, an HR software as a service company that’s been backed by some of Canada and Silicon Valley’s most prominent investors including 500 Global, NBIF, and BDC. 

In 2021, the company took a pivotal turn when it acquired CareerBeacon from JD Irving, one of Canada’s last independently operated job boards. This acquisition was eventually merged with its own successful human resource technology platform.

Today, under Yves’ leadership, CareerBeacon has become a key player in Atlantic Canada's job market, catering to over 70 percent of the region's employment needs with thousands of employers and millions of job seekers actively using the site every year.

Let’s be real: HR isn’t swamped because there’s too much work. It’s swamped because we’re still doing way too much of it manually. If you're still screening resumes with spreadsheets, formatting job postings like it’s 2006, or writing policies from scratch — that’s not “busy,” that’s avoidable.

In this session, we’re cutting through the hype and the fears. We’ll talk about what parts of HR are already being automated (yep, right now), what’s safe (for now), and what’s on the chopping block over the next 2–3 years. We’ll also discuss why HR is behind the curve compared to departments like Sales, Marketing, and Operations. 

But this isn’t about replacing people. It’s about using AI to actually do the things we always say we want to do: be more human, more strategic, more fair, and way less bogged down in admin hell.
