Job Description
HG Immigration Ltd. (HGi) is an Ontario-based immigration consulting firm with a Canadian branch office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; and international branch offices in Manama, Bahrain and Cairo, Egypt. Since our inception in 2016, we have helped many foreign nationals come to Canada to study, work, re-unite with their families and immigrate to Canada. One of our key guiding principles is to focus on bringing individuals that would contribute and strengthen our economy. As such, the immigration programs that we focus on are business immigration and foreign skilled workers.
We are currently searching for an HR Professional with a Recruiting specialty, reporting to the two principals of the company. This role is responsible for supporting the strategy and execution of filling the essential employment needs of employers, primarily in the Atlantic provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, PEI). We have many candidates both in Canada and abroad that need to be screened, prepared for the interview, and placed in essential roles that currently exist in Atlantic Canada under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program and provincial nominee programs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Sourcing Essential Positions with Atlantic Canada employers
• Leveraging their existing broad and deep network of contacts and professional relationships to source available essential roles. At present, we have candidates for the following roles:
o Food processing workers
o Fish plant workers
o Nurses Aides
o Construction labourers
o Light-duty cleaners
• Developing and executing a sourcing strategy to effectively source additional essential roles with employers and build the available job pool for current and future candidates.
• Engaging with prospective employers and hiring managers to identify talent gaps and drive recruitment solutions.
Full Cycle Recruitment & Settlement
• Leading the full cycle recruitment process including (but not limited to):
o intake discussions with employers, preparing job descriptions, screening, interviewing, recommending and managing the offer process,
o reviewing and approving pre-employment screening results; and managing hand-off to employers for coordination of on-boarding and orientation of new hires.
• Assist in the settlement of candidates by working with local settlement services as needed.
• Conducting debrief with HGi principals.
Relationship Management
• Building strong and collaborative relationships with hiring managers at all levels of the organization.
• Serve as a consultant and primary business partner for hiring managers, providing communication on recruitment activity and information on market trends.
• Reinforcing the HGi’s commitment in ensuring fair and equitable recruiting and selection practices during all interactions.
• Follow up with hired candidates to ensure employer compliance to agreed terms of employment.
Statistics & Reporting
• Providing market intelligence to HGi regarding the recruitment/employment market in Atlantic Canada.
• Providing recruiting and employer data to assist HGi’s principals for budgeting and goal setting.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:
• University degree or college diploma in a related field.
• CHRP designation
• Minimum of 5+ years of human resources experience, with a focus on recruitment.
• Advanced sourcing, networking and lead generation skills.
• Advanced interviewing skills.
• High level of energy, initiative, flexibility, self-motivation, and sense of urgency for results.
• An approachable manner with the ability to comprehend and relate to people while providing effective support and guidance.
• Ability to manage ambiguity, risk and changing direction of projects and strategies.
• Ability to work independently while understanding the importance of engaging principals for awareness or guidance and/or escalating issues as appropriate.
• Detail oriented, adept problem solver with strong planning, organizational and prioritization skills.
• Strong employer and candidate relationship management and communication skills.
• Proven ability to build trust and develop collaborative relationships.
• Verbal and written fluency in English with proven performance in business communications.
