CPHR Canada desires to establish a footprint at the federal level through a focused and targeted public policy advocacy strategy. To help deliver the plan, CPHR Canada retained Ottawa-based consultant Carole Presseault from Presseault Strategies+.
To help analyze public policies that may affect the human resources profession and impact human capital issues and develop positions, CPHR Canada wishes to convene an advisory committee.
Purpose
The purpose of the advisory committee is to bring the HR practitioner perspective to the development of federal public policy. With the support of the consultant, roles include (but are not limited) to the following:
- To identify emerging public policy issues
- To review pertinent documentation
- To articulate a position for CPHR Canada to adopt
- To review draft documents and submissions developed by CPHR Canada on federal public policy
- Potentially, and with the approval of the CEO, act as spokesperson and appear before Parliamentary committees for CPHR Canada on public policy issues
Membership
Three to five members are being sought to participate in the advisory committee. Members will be appointed based on their knowledge of subject-matters. While geographical and language balance is desirable, it is not essential.
Currently members are being sought with in-depth knowledge of laws and regulation with respect to harassment in the workplace (Bill C-65 currently before Parliament) and pay equity (legislation to be introduced in 2018).
Meetings
The advisory committee will meet as needed by teleconference. It is desirable that an in-person meeting be held at least once a year but is subject to budget constraints.
The consultant will facilitate meetings and will provide secretariat services to the committee.
If you are interested, please contact Luc Page before the end of the day November 24th.
