To apply for the VOE to earn the CPHR designation, you MUST be a member with CPHR New Brunswick and work in New Brunswick.
The Validation of Experience (VOE) assessment is a crucial step in earning the CPHR designation in New Brunswick. This requirement aligns with the national guidelines of CPHR Canada, ensuring that candidates possess the necessary experience and capability at the Administrative HR level.
HR practitioners can pursue the Experience Assessment in any sector, including industry, government, public practice, professional associations, education, healthcare, or not-for-profits—anywhere with a human resources function.
Requirements to Pass the VOE
To successfully pass the Validation of Experience (VOE) assessment, applicants must:
- Be members in good standing with CPHR New Brunswick.
- Demonstrate the required type and number of years of HR experience within the past 10 years from the VOE submission deadline.
The required experience varies based on educational background:
Degree 3 years of work experience Diploma 4 years of work experience Certificate 5 years of work experience High School 8 years of work experience - Ensure that 51% or more of their work is HR-related. Positions where less than 51% of the work is HR will not count towards the required experience.
- Provide a minimum of 8 examples of HR competencies primarily at the Advisory HR level using the STAR method.
When to Apply
Applications are accepted twice a year in the Spring and Fall submission periods
Spring: March 1st - April 30th
Fall: September 1st - October 31st

The Cost to apply is $500 + HST and is payable in two instalments:
- $100 + HST payable with application submission (non-refundable)
- $400 + HST For CPHR Designation fee (Payable upon outcome of approved designation)
