Andy MacLeod | ||
Andy MacLeod, who holds a B.Sc. (Kinesiology) and M.Sc. (Physiology), currently works as an Independent Case Manager, primarily with Long Term Disability and Motor Vehicle Accident claims. He also works with Health Association Nova Scotia's Early Assistance and Support for Employees (EASE) program. Andy has approximately 11 years of Disability Management experience focused on disability benefit adjudication, case management, return to work planning, attendance management, medical accommodation requests and coordinating independent assessments (e.g., Independent Medical Examinations and Functional Capacity Evaluations). He has also worked in small private rehabilitation clinics conducting services which include Work Hardening, Functional Capacity Evaluation, Ergonomics Evaluation and Physical Demands Analysis. Andy has worked for Capital District Health Authority in Halifax and Bell Aliant in Moncton as an internal Disability Case Manager. He has also worked as a Rehabilitation Consultant for Medavie Blue Cross in Moncton. Andy is interested in working with small and medium sized employers in the management of employee disability issues (e.g., absenteeism, accommodation requests). | ||

The presentation will outline basic principles of disability case management. Discussion will also take place about how both the employee’s and the employer’s interest are represented in the process. Adjudication of a Short Term Disability benefit application for a 'Stress Claim' will be used as an example. | ||
