FREE Webinar: Confident Leadership: The Linchpin of Success – CPHR New Brunswick
DATE: | January 27th 2022 |
10:00 am to 11:00 am |
CHAPTER: | Webinar |
LANGUAGE: | English |
Some people seek out leadership roles, others have it thrust upon them. Either way, how successful you will be as a leader is largely affected by how confident you are in your ability to lead. A confident leader does not always look the way people expect, but a confident leader they will feel the way people expect. Confidence creates safety, trust, and efficacy. It inspires people to listen, follow, and achieve. These elements are what a leader needs to provide, but they are not always what we get.
We often misunderstand what true confidence is, how it looks, and how to obtain it. When true confidence is absent in leaders, we see predictable behaviors and effects that can have a prolonged impact on a business’s growth and sustainability.
The absence of confidence in an organization’s leadership has a profound and costly effect on a business’ performance and profit. Employee disengagement, talent turnover, and high absenteeism are just some of the common and costly problems that stem from a leader’s insecurity.
In this 60 minute presentation, we will outline the direct connection between confidence in leadership and successful business outcomes. We will describe the 3 biggest obstacles to building a leader’s confidence and the costly repercussions that result from a workforce led by an unconfident leader. We will leave you with a clear understanding of why confidence is an essential element of leadership and suggest where you can begin your journey to becoming a more confident leader.
We will also look to engage as much input and questions from participant and use as many real-life examples as possible to ensure that all information is practical and meaningful to everyone in attendance.

Workplace Culture Hierarchy: Steps To Build The Workplace We All Strive For
DATE: | April 14th 2022 |
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm |
CHAPTER: | CPHRNB Virtual PD Session |
LANGUAGE: | English |
This event is hosted in partnership with CPHR New Brunswick
Most workplaces want to create an environment that inspires employees to be motivated in their work and engaged in their job. This environment is created by how they communicate, what expectations they set, the way managers lead, what everyone thinks of the company and their job. The result is what we call Workplace Culture.
One of the many challenges that come with trying to create a workplace culture that fosters employee engagement and motivation is the lack of understanding about how a strong workplace culture is built. The most common mistake we see when attempting to improve workplace culture is to take a single action, unattached to any larger effort or strategy, and implement it without considering if the current environment will allow the action to be successful.
When we try to create change in our workplace, we often jump right in without asking ourselves the question: “What needs to exist first, before this will be successful?”
By not asking ourselves this important question, we are trying to build an environment without a foundation in place that will allow it to be successful long term. In order to create sustained change, we need to know the steps to create the long-lasting success and employee engagement we are looking for. We need to understand the Workplace Culture Hierarchy.
In this 60 minute presentation, we will address the importance of intentionally crafting an inclusive and engaging workplace culture, as well as the common mistakes we often make when trying to do so. We will describe the Workplace Culture Hierarchy, and how you can understand where your workplace currently sits on it. We will leave you with a clear path that you can follow to start bringing tangible and measurable results to your workplace.
We will also look to engage as much input and questions from participants and use as many real-life examples as possible to ensure that all information is practical and meaningful to everyone in attendance.

FREE Mental Health Awareness Week - Information is Useless Without Transformation: How to Rapidly Impact Workplace Mental Health
In recognition of the CMHA Mental Health Week May 2 - 8, 2022, CPHR Atlantic and CPHR Saskatchewan are proud to partner with Howatt HR Consulting to bring members this complimentary webinar.
There is growing information that workplace mental health is becoming a more significant challenge (e.g., YOY increases in STD/LTD & WCB claims due to mental health). Knowing workers' mental health is a growing concern is not enough. Assuming that simply putting in place programs and policies will be enough to impact is a common mistake.
For employers to positively impact workplace mental health, they must first understand what psychosocial risk factors and hazards are creating the most considerable strain on the workers and leaders. Then, discovering what protective factors the employer can facilitate using a Plan - Do - Check - Act (PDCA) approach to create the desired transformation (ie., reducing mental harm and promoting mental health). Transformation and impactful workplace mental health initiatives will drive worker engagement and productivity, the decline in sick time, and disability costs that contribute to having a secure and sustainable workforce. In 2020, companies with the highest workforce treatment scores in Just Capital's rankings outperformed the Russell 1000 by 4.7 percent.
Dr. Bill Howatt, an international expert in workplace mental health, will provide professionals tasked with facilitating workplace mental health a framework for taking information and creating actions that put the organization on the right track to transform workplace mental health. Five in five workers and leaders have mental health. How effective the employer and employees learn to promote and protect workplace mental health will determine how well a work culture becomes psychologically safe and healthy. There are no shortcuts. There are no magic fixes to workplace mental health. To create rapid workplace mental health transformation requires a commitment to continuous improvement, collecting the correct data, engaging workers, measurement, reporting, and auditing.
Objectives
- Explore critical considerations required to create a psychologically safe workplace.
- Review the link between risk factors, hazards, and protective factors.
- Understand why workplace mental health requires a Plan - Do - Check - Act Approach.
- Discover how to leverage a rapid approach to workplace mental health.
