Canadian Mental Health Association NB Cheryl Edwards Cheryl has been involved in mental health for many years both as a parent and professional. Her daughter was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at eight years old, a diagnosis that started their family on a journey of navigating the mental health and education systems. At the age of eleven, her daughter was placed on suicide watch and spend five weeks in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit (CAPU) in Moncton. Since then she has been diagnosed with Social Anxiety and is on the autism spectrum. While the journey with mental health has been filled with tears, exhaustion and fear, it has also provided valuable understanding and compassion for individuals who suffer through their diagnosis. Because of this, Cheryl attended the University of New Brunswick to obtain a Bachelor of Education Degree with a concentration in Special Education focused on behaviour and mental health. Cheryl began her career with the Canadian Mental Health Association in the fall of 2016 and has not looked back. She began working as an Employment Counsellor helping individuals who self-identify as having mental health issues prepare for, gain and maintain meaningful employment. Today, she is the At Work Program Coordinator for CMHA and looks forward everyday to going to work and helping people everyday. She is a firm believer that “when you find a job that you love, you never have to work another day!” Becky Arseneault Becky Arseneault is a young mother of 2.
