Description: |

As the largest employer in Canada—employing more than 250,000 Canadians—the Federal Public Service has an essential leadership role to play in supporting the mental health of its employees. Addressing issues of mental health at work, where many adults spend most of their waking hours, is vitally important for all Canadians… But how can all key stakeholders in the federal public service, including employees, managers, senior leaders, and union leaders, work together to create a mentally healthy workplace? During this interactive session, Louise Chénier, Program Manager, Workplace Mental Health at the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) will share her insights on how all key stakeholders in the federal public service can promote and sustain mental health at work. In particular, she will discuss: - What is meant by workplace mental health; - The business case for promoting mental health at work; - This impact of stigma; - How to recognize if a colleague may be experiencing a mental health issue; - The role of all workplace stakeholders (i.e. employees, managers, senior leaders, and union leaders) in addressing mental health at work; - Practical steps and solutions to create mentally healthy workplaces; and - Tools that are available to address psychological health and safety in the workplace, and increase awareness of, and reduce stigma around, mental health problems or illnesses. | ||
